ＷＥＢ絵本「夢を買うた三弥大尽」

むかし日向国の三弥という大金持ちが、まだ貧乏な旅商人であった時、夏の日に仲間の者と二人づれで、或る山路を越えて寂しい高千穂の村へ入って行きました．

Once upon a time in Hyuga province, there lived a millionaire. His name was Mitsuya.

When Mr. Mitsuya was only a poor peddler yet, he went to a deserted village of Takachiho area through a mountain road in a day of Summer. He was with a companion.

あんまり暑いから少し休もうと言って、路の横手の木の蔭に横になって、友だちは直ぐに眠ってしまいました．

それを三弥がまだ起きて見ていますと、一匹の蜂が寝ている男の鼻の穴から飛び出して、どこか遠くの山の方へ飛んで行きました．

妙な事があるものだと思うと、やや暫らくしてその蜂は帰って来て、再びその男の顔のまわりへ来ていなくなりました．

それから眼をさまして、その友だちが言うには、今実に珍しい夢を私は見た．なんだかこの近くの山でもあるらしかったが、歩いて見ると一谷が、金で一杯になっている所があったと語りました．

それはまことによい夢だ．それを私に売ってくれぬかと言いますと、夢なんか何になるものか、馬鹿なことを言うといいましたが、とうとうお酒か何かこの男の好きな物をやって、夢をこちらに買い取ることにしました．

His companion said, "Let's take a rest. It's scorchingly hot!"

And the companion laid in the shadow of a tree by the road and got slept soon.

Mr. Mitsuya stayed awake and was watching him.

A bee got out from a nose hole of the sleeping companion.

And it flew toward a far mountain.

He thought that the happening was strange.

After a while, the bee returned back and was flying around the companion's face.

And it went away somewhere.

Then, the companion woke up and said:

Just now, I dreamed a strange dream;

I was walking in a mountain;

It is perhaps near here;

I found a valley filled with gold.

Mr. Mitsuya said, "It's a good dream. Please sell it to me!"

The companion said, "Such a dream is worthless. No kidding!"

But Mr. Mitsuya gave liquor or something which the companion preferred.

And Mr. Mitsuya bought the dream.

それから幾日かの後に、三弥は又一人でこの土地へ戻って来て、毎日毎日一生懸命になって、山という山を探しまわりました．

After several days, Mr. Mitsuya came back to this place alone.

And he eagerly searched mountains every day.

そうしておしまいに見付け出したのが、外録という金山であったそうであります．

He finally found a gold mine called as Gairoku.

それが三弥が一代のあいだ、夢に見た通りに莫大の金を出して、またたくうちに九州一の大尽になりました．

In Mr. Mitsuya's lifetime, it yielded a large amount of gold as dreamed.

In an instant, he became the top millionaire of Kyushu region.

不思議な事にはこの人が死んでしまうと、すぐに大地震が起こって山が崩れ、今ではその跡は一つの沼になっているということであります．

Strangely, soon after his death, an earthquake occurred.

And the mine collapsed.

People say that there is a pond now where the mine once was.
